Torbay's new Film Club

*Free Screening* at Paignton Sun 16th Dec **N.B. Venue Changed**

Christmas? Humbug! Let's meet half-way at Chrumbug!

BAM! at (The Bit On The Side) Bad Santaor in fact Paignton Parish Church Hall

Is the weight of everything Christmassy dragging you down? How about a healthy dose of festive cynicism in the form of a free screening of Bad Santa at the Paignton's Parish Church Hall this Sunday 16th December, 2007.

Torbay's new film club, Bay Area Movies, is showing the eccentric comedy as a trial screening before its new programme of recently released, classic British and independent foreign films starts in the new year.

Billy Bob Thornton stars as a safe-cracking alcoholic Santa, who along with his side-kick elf played by Tony Cox, conspire to rob the stores they work in every Christmas season.

Web film review site Rotten Tomatoes called it 'Offbeat, hilarious and gleefully misanthropic, this is the perfect antidote to Hollywood’s annual glut of sugary Christmas movies'.

Bad Santa is rated 15 and contains frequent strong language and moderate nudity. Running time 93 mins

Contrary to the Herald Express article, there is no bar at the new venue. Soft drinks and hot drinks will be available though.

*Bad Santa screening at Paignton Parish Church Hall, Church Path, Paignton, TQ3 3AF, Sun December 16th at 8pm. Doors from 7ish. Entrance is free, though a contribution towards costs is requested.

Directions - From Palace Avenue, turn right into Coverdale Road by the Totesport bookies. Go straight up the road, which becomes Church Path. At the end of the road, turn left and the church hall is immediately on your left.

As well as a film club, Bay Area Movies will also be promoting youth and community film-making projects and workshops.

We are looking for volunteers to help with future screenings, as well as people with film-making experience and those interested in showing and making films.
